Course Description

This 7-session professional development course equips K-12 teachers to identify, manage, and transform classroom social dynamics—like hierarchies, cliques, biases, and conflicts—into inclusive cultures. Through research insights (e.g., Erikson, Pygmalion), case studies, and practical strategies, participants build psychological safety, equity, and action plans for higher engagement and reduced exclusion.

What You will Learn?

Analyse how social hierarchies and peer influence (e.g.,  Erikson, social identity theory) shape student engagement and  behaviour in the classroom.
Identify and classify common classroom politics (e.g., cliques, relational aggression, in-group dynamics) to recognize their impact on group interactions.
Detect and mitigate personal biases (e.g., favouritism,  Pygmalion effect, implicit bias) to promote equitable student  opportunities.
Manage conflict triggers (e.g., ego clashes, power dynamics) using developmental insights to foster constructive  resolutions.
Implement targeted strategies (e.g., rotating roles, structured grouping) to reduce exclusion and enhance classroom cooperation.
Create psychological safety and equity through techniques like check-ins and culturally responsive practices to build  belonging.
Develop a data-informed action plan with self-reflection to  sustain improvements in classroom dynamics.
