Course Description

This 2-hour online course supports school teachers (K–12) to design, implement, and assess student portfolios as part of classroom and school-wide assessment practices. Through four interactive sessions, teachers explore the purpose and types of portfolios, see concrete examples for different subjects and grade levels, and learn practical strategies to manage challenges such as time, criteria, and technology.

What You will Learn?

• Define student portfolios and describe at least three types (e.g., working, showcase, evaluation, process, product, reflective).
• Explain the importance of portfolio assessment for documenting growth, supporting reflection, and enabling more holistic evaluation from K–12.
• Design a simple portfolio structure and criteria for one subject and grade level, including student reflection prompts and rubrics.
• Plan how to use portfolio evidence for formative feedback and summative assessment, including sharing with parents and colleagues.
• Identify common implementation challenges (time, consistency, scoring, technology) and suggest practical solutions within their context.
